Kylemore Abbey

We visited Kylemore Abbey which was originally built in 1867-71 by Mitchell Henry for his bride Margaret after visiting the Connemara area on their honeymoon.  The home was later bought by the Benedictine Nuns after WWI, and it became an Abbey and a private school for girls.  The grounds cover 15,000 acres which included the tenants lands.

We finished our tour with tea and scones in the Tea Room near the Walled Victorian Gardens.  We fit right in with our fancy boots and motorcycle pants.
